Early literacy programs at MPL are provided to assist parents, in helping their children develop the skills they will need to become successful readers, while fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The library holds registered, 8 week storytime sessions for various age groups, three times year. (fall, winter & spring). Please register for one class per child in each session.

Registration opens online and in person, beginning September 19, at 10:00 am.

Registered Programs

Milton Public Library is committed to supporting parents and caregivers in building a foundation for their child's development as a reader and a lifelong learner. Early literacy storytimes are registered eight week sessions, offered in the Fall (begining in October), Winter and Spring.

0 to 11 months of age

This 20-30 minute program, is a highly interactive, shared child and caregiver experience. Enjoy stories, bounces, rhymes, songs, and activities, as we help you build early literacy skills with your child through talking, singing and playing together.

12 to 23 months of age

This program is planned with the active one year old in mind. We will help you build early literacy skills with your child, by reading, singing, talking, and playing together.

24 to 35 months of age

This interactive weekly program features stories, songs, rhymes and early literacy activities for parents and caregivers to enjoy with their child.

3 to 5 years of age

This weekly storytime full of stories, songs, fun and laughter, will help build confidence, encourage early literacy and develop social skills.

Drop In Programs

Drop in programs change from season to season and do not require advance registration. Tickets for drop in programs are available 15 minutes before the start of the program, Space is limited.

Children ages 2 to 5, and their parent or caregiver are invited to join us for 45 minutes each week to celebrate a new letter with stories, songs, activities and a craft.

Yes, each child needs their own individual card to register.

We limit families to one registered program per child per session to help ensure that as many families as possible can participate in our early literacy storytimes.

Milton Public Library reserves the right to remove children registered in the same program more than once. This may result in your child being removed from your preferred class.
